Over 30,000 of Palm Beach County’s children under the age of 18 live in households whose family income is below the poverty level. Their families frequently cannot provide them with a pair of shoes that fit or clothing suitable for school play. A child’s clothing can stigmatize and mark him or her for ostracism or abuse. This can make attending school a painful experience and endanger the child’s ability to obtain even a basic education. That is why the BallenIsles Charities Foundation feels that providing children with proper clothing deserves high priority.
