Did You Know – Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches
Did you know the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches has been raising money & securing musical instruments to support the music programs in our local schools?
Their Instrument Donation Program is administered by the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County which purchases new musical instruments for needy students waiting to obtain an instrument. Many studies have shown that a student’s ability to learn basic math, science and reading increases when they play a musical instrument; students are more engaged in school, score higher on standardized tests, have better school attendance, higher graduation rates and they are less likely to join gangs, or abuse alcohol and drugs. Our 2014 grant of $10,000 will fund an additional 25 instruments for this program.
