Did you know that 17% of Palm Beach County residents are “food insecure?”

This means that close to 225,000 people are unsure where their next meal is coming from….not so surprising when you consider that 57% of Palm Beach County students receive free or reduced-price lunch. The Palm Beach County Food Bank was established in 2012 to help address hunger-related issues by collecting and distributing food to soup kitchens, homeless shelters and food pantries. During 2013-2014 they distributed nearly 5 million pounds of food to 105 local agencies and 65% of the food collected was fresh produce. Our 2014 grant to the Palm Beach County Food Bank of $5,000 provided 10 lb. nutrition Back Packs to 40 West Palm Beach children attending a camp program during the summer, a time when families are particularly vulnerable to going hungry.
