Did you know that in 2012 there were over 2500 reports of child abuse in Palm Beach County? In fact, Palm Beach County has some of the highest rates of child abuse in Florida. About half of the cases were verified as neglect and the other half were cases of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. Often removed from their own homes by the courts, these children are brought to shelters frequently arriving in the middle of the night, sometimes with only the clothes on their back. …a few come straight from the intensive care unit. Grandma’s Place is often the first resource for abused and abandoned children, providing programs and services that are widely known and respected in the child welfare community. Our 2014 BallenIsles Charities Foundation now has the opportunity to satisfy items on their “wish list” in order to better serve the children who will stay with them during the year.
