Where Does Your Money Go? – The ARC of Palm Beach County

Music and art therapy promote understanding, connection, learning and growth for all people, espeically those with developmental disabilities. Your support helps our students and adults develop skills that lead to increased independence and community inclusion.

Thanks to YOU, BallenIsles Charities Foundation!

In the mid-1950s, a small group of community volunteers joined together to advocate for the rights and needs of people with intellectual disabilities in Palm Beach County. The volunteers –many of them parents of children with disabilities — envisioned the creation of local community-based programs to educate and help their children lead productive lives.

The Arc of Palm Beach County focuses on inclusion for all. They strive to assist their students and clients to become independent and active members of their families and the community.

Students enrolled at The Arc’s Potentials School come not knowing how to walk or talk. Using therapy and services, students are able to learn to walk, whether independently or using adaptive equipment; some speak their first words and their voices are finally heard, with the help of specialized equipment and techniques.

Building its first group home in 1970, The Arc currently has 4 group homes fully staffed with trained professionals 24/7. Plans are on the way to add a 5th group home to provide more independent living for the adults we serve. Family members are encouraged to visit and be an involved part of the residents’ lives.

Through The Arc’s Career Transition Program, job training and placement services, many adult clients hold regular jobs with one of their many community partners. Some are earning their first paycheck ever!
